Cartmell Cottage Gardening, Scavenger Hunt & BBQ

Fantastic start to the season, with lots of fun in the sun!

On Saturday 22nd October twenty one Past Finder members, one young adult volunteer and three adults rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. While four at a time walked the plank planting the garden the others enjoyed a scavenger hunt in Cartmell Cottage looking for objects. Nina Aldridge said they enjoyed exploring the Cottage and was excited to find the items on their list.

The group planted potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, radish, lettuce, white turnip and spinach. One row of mixed flower seeds and three rows of flowers kindly donated by Government House, cruentus hot biscuit, celosia, snap dragon, gazania, marigolds, fox glove, honesty and cornflour.

After the hard work the hungry children tucked into a delicious barbeque cooked by Andrea Barlow.

The group ended with playing outdoor games.

Thank you to Abigayle Alazia, our young adult volunteer for helping with everything. Also, Andrea and Nina for your help, always appreciated.

The garden looks amazing!
