Goose Green

The 148th Meeting of Darwin Harbour Sports Association - Goose Green.

What an unforgettable adventure at the 148th Meeting of the Darwin Harbour Sports Association in Goose Green!

It was a windy but sunny day at Goose Green. Fresh air, blue skies, and that perfect mix of breeze and sunshine that makes you feel alive.

A fun-packed day of sports, laughter and excitement was had by all when 11 children and 3 adults set off on an action-filled trip to Goose Green’s Children’s Sports Event. The group departed from the Museum car park bright and early at 9am, arriving at 11am ready for the day ahead.

The children could hardly wait to jump out of the minibus — their energy was bursting! First up was a thrilling running race to get hearts pumping, followed by a hilarious wheelbarrow race. The fun continued with a relay race and a backward race, before the grand finale — a competitive tug of war! Every child gave it their all and was proudly awarded rosettes for their fantastic efforts.

After all that excitement, it was time to refuel with amazing, packed lunches kindly provided by The Lodges. The break gave everyone the boost they needed for the next round of fun.

After lunch, sweets and money rained down in a colourful burst of excitement. The children scrambled to gather the hidden cash around the racecourse — sadly, none of the Past Finders were lucky enough to discover any this time!

The laughter continued with rides on the mechanical bull, where every brave participant tested their balance and determination. Cheers filled the air as each child tried to hold on just a little bit longer!

As the day ended, it was clear that memories had been made. The journey back to Stanley was a much quieter one, with a few sleepy faces resting after such an action-packed day.

A huge thank you to all the organisers at the Darwin Harbour Sports Association, and a special shout-out to Teena and Sherilee Thomas for volunteering — your support is truly appreciated!

A big thank you once again to The Lodges for the delicious, packed lunches that kept everyone energised throughout the day.

Here’s to the next adventure!
