Goose Green

The 147th Meeting of Darwin Harbour Sports Association, Goose Green.

What an unforgettable adventure! A fun-packed day of sports, laughter, and excitement was had by all when 11 children and 2 adults set off on an action-packed day trip to Goose Green’s Children's Sports Event! The group departed from the Museum car park bright and early at 9am, and by 11am, they had arrived and were ready for an incredible day ahead.

The kids couldn’t wait to jump out of the minibus, their energy practically bursting from them. The first event on the agenda? A thrilling 100-meter running race that got everyone’s heart racing, followed by a lively sack race that had the children hopping and giggling! They continued their whirlwind of fun with a relay race, the tricky "thread the needle" relay, and a hilarious wheelbarrow race. The grand finale? A competitive three-legged race! Everyone gave it their all, and each child was proudly awarded a shiny rosette for their effort.

After all that excitement, the group was ready to refuel with an amazing spread of food. The picnic was a feast to behold—sausage rolls, sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, pizza, Mars Bar squares, and so much more. It was a delicious break that gave everyone the energy they needed for the next round of fun!

But the excitement didn’t stop there. After lunch, a burst of colour filled the air as sweets and money rained down like a rainbow! The children scrambled to gather the hidden cash, and after a bit of searching, Tyler was the lucky winner of a £10 note hidden in an envelope! Well done, Tyler!

The fun continued with a wild ride on the mechanical bull, where every child had the chance to test their skills. Laughter and cheers filled the air as each brave participant tried to hold on for as long as they could. The day ended with a tense and thrilling tug of war, where teamwork and determination came to the forefront.

As the day wrapped up, it was clear that everyone had a fantastic time, but the journey back to Stanley was a quiet one, with a few sleepy faces resting after such an action-packed day.

A huge thank you goes to all the organisers of the DHSA and a special shout-out to Sherilee Thomas for volunteering, much appreciated!
